Beijing, Feb 6: The men’s downhill at the Beijing Olympics was postponed because of wind that gusted at up to 40 mph at the top of the course when the race was supposed to start on Sunday, delaying the opening event of the Alpine schedule. No new date was announced immediately. “The wind here is a big, big challenge. And it’s a pity, because you have good weather, you have good snow, you have a perfect slope,” said Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, a Norwegian who leads the World Cup downhill and super-G standings. (AP)
Aditi shoots career-best 63 to finish T-15 at Drive On
Fort Myers (US), Feb 6: India’s Aditi Ashok produced a sensational career-best nine-under 63 in the third and final round as she shot from the cutline to finish T-15 at the LPGA Drive On Championship. Needing just 23 putts to go through the round, Aditi holed nine birdies and had no bogeys. There was a point, when most of the leaders had not even begun as Aditi rose up the leader board to as high as Tied-third, but later finished T-15. (PTI)
Mercedes confirm Hamilton’s comeback in Formula 1
London, Feb 6: Mercedes have confirmed that Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton will race for them again this year after the seven-time world champion ended his social media silence on Saturday, saying, “I’ve been gone. Now I’m back!”. In reaction to his post, Mercedes shared the image with the caption “I’m back”. Hamilton had been absent from social media since December 11 after posting an image from his P2 qualifying at Yas Marina. (IANS)
