HC directs govt to file report on pandemic

SHILLONG, Feb 7: The division bench of the High Court of Meghalaya has directed the state government to file a detailed report indicating the present position pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hearing a PIL, the division bench allowed the matter to appear in the supplementary list on February 10, 2022.
“A detailed report should be filed by the Health Secretary on behalf of the state indicating the present position pertaining to the pandemic, the measures taken and the extent of vaccination undertaken, including the booster dose,” the bench said.
2 deaths, 62 fresh cases
The state on Monday recorded 62 fresh cases of COVID-19 while two more patients succumbed to the viral infection in the past 24 hours taking the death toll to 1,548.
One death each was reported in East Khasi Hills and Ri-Bhoi.
The active tally stands at 1,339 while 89,476 people have recovered from the viral infection including 183 on the day.
36 fresh cases were reported in East Khasi Hills, seven each in West Jaintia Hills and Ri-Bhoi, three each in West Garo Hills and East Jaintia Hills, two each in South West Garo Hills and Eastern West Khasi Hills and one each in North Garo Hills and East Garo Hills.
