Ranikor SDO prohibits mining

RANIKOR, Feb 7: The Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Ranikor Civil Sub-Division, LGM Kharmih has issued an order prohibiting mining of coal and limestone here.
Issued under Section 144 of CrPC, the order legitimises mining activities only in the presence of a mine lease agreement with the state government.
Informing that the step has been taken to prevent environmental destruction and ecological damages in the area, the SDO also stated that the team of NGT Magistrate has been appointed to keep a check on illegal mining of the minerals in the sub division.
“The order also prohibits the stocking and stacking of coal or limestone by non-lease holders, prohibit the felling of trees in mining areas, prohibit the entry into mining areas of coal or limestone, prohibit the mining activities in the interest of coal mining and prohibit the kind of mining activities/machines in areas in furtherance of illegal limestone mining and prohibit the stocking of limestone in PWD roads and Public properties and deemed public property”, the order further stated.
