Section 144 CrPC imposed in SWGH

TURA, Feb 8: South West Garo Hills Additional Deputy Commissioner S.K. Marak has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting certain activities in view of the Night road blockade called by combined organizations of Garo Hills from Tuesday.

The order issued on Tuesday prohibits unlawful assembly and movement of five or more persons in groups, carrying of arms, sticks, lathis, firearms, etc. that can be used as weapon; blocking of public roads, by laying barricades, obstructions, etc. that may prevent passage of people or vehicular traffic and any coercive action to prevent movement of people or vehicular traffic.

The restriction comes into force with immediate effect but will not apply to members of security personnel engaged in maintenance of law and order or in discharge of their official duties, persons engaged in emergency and safety, rescue operations, etc.
