NEW DELHI, Feb 8: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has taken a strong view of the five legislators’ decision to extend support to the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government.
Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president, Vincent H Pala said strong action will be taken against the MLAs once he reaches Shillong from New Delhi.
Pala had a meeting with AICC general secretary KC Venugopal and secretary in-charge of Meghalaya, Manish Chatrath. “I shall also call a meeting of the CLP and the MPCC,” he said, adding these leaders did neither consult the MPCC nor the AICC.
The news is shocking, Pala said, adding, under no circumstances can the Congress join a government where the BJP is a component.
The development comes following the decision of Congress MDC and Ampareen’s husband, Fantin Joseph Lakadong to join the NPP. There were talks that she would follow in his footsteps.
