Lafarge felicitates meritorious students from Nongtrai village
SHILLONG, Feb 16: In an effort to encourage the meritorious students from Nongtrai village, Lafarge Umiam Mining Private Limited (LUMPL) in collaboration with the Nongtrai Village Durbar organised their Annual Felicitation Programme on February 14. A total of 72 students from Nongtrai village who excelled in various fields of studies in the academic year 2020-21 were felicitated in the programme. The programme also saw the felicitation of Skhemborlang Marwein, an athlete from Nongtrai Village, who emerged as the gold medallist in the National Muay Thai competition held in Manipur recently. Marwein, who is going to compete in the upcoming Dubai Asian Games, is an alumni of the Nongtrai Secondary School (NSS), a wholly-sponsored school of LUMPL. To ensure COVID protocol is followed, certificates and scholarships for meritorious students from classes I to IX were handed over to the different school authorities who then handed over the same to the students in their respective schools. Executive members of the Nongtrai Village Durbar, CSR officials of LUMPL, Teachers and parents of the students were present during the programme.

Exporters’ body gets new members
TURA, Feb 16: The International Garo Coal Exporters’ Association (IGCEA) from Gasuapara elected its new office-bearers on Wednesday. Tushit G Momin was elected as president, Adarson A Sangma as vice president, Probash R Marak as secretary, Jems Marak as joint secretary, Ronald S Sangma as adviser, Jamesor R Marak as accountant and Harmithstar R Marak as treasurer, besides ten other executive members.

Exhibition-cum-awareness prog
SHILLONG, Feb 16: The office of the Regional Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India will organise a two-day exhibition cum awareness programme on the occasion of celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence, Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav and COVID Appropriate Behaviour at Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong on February 17 and 18. The inaugural function will be held at 1.30 PM on February 17.
