BSF sets up new unit HQ near Baljek Airport

TURA, Feb 17: A new unit headquarters of the Border Security Force (BSF) was on Thursday inaugurated at Bewagre village near the Baljek Airport in West Garo Hills.
The new campus was inaugurated by Inspector General of Meghalaya BSF, Inderjit Singh Rana, in the presence of DIG SHQ, Tura, Alok Kumar Singh, and Commandant, 100 Bn BSF, Ajay Kumar Tiwary.
The campus is spread out in an area of around 93 acres and has state-of-art facilities to cater to operational, training and administrative requirements of the Battalion.
Speaking on the occasion, Inderjit Singh Rana, who was the chief guest at the programme, appreciated the support of the civil administration and local populace in the set-up of the campus.
According to Rana, the establishment of the BSF campus would not only add to the security of the airport, but will also ensure overall upliftment of the living standard of the locals by generating employment.
“BSF is committed in providing sufficient medical and administrative support to the civil population in any hour of need,” Rana said.
