SHILLONG, Feb 20: The Federation of Khasi States (FKS) has sought an appointment with Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma for discussions on issues pertaining to the Annexed Agreement of the Instrument of Accession signed on August 17, 1948.
Informing this, FKS adviser & spokesperson, John F Kharshiing, in a statement, said the Federation wants this meeting as the chief minister had, in October last year, stated that he is willing to discuss the issues relating to the Annexed Agreement of the Instrument of Accession within the parameters of the Constitution of India.
According to Kharshiing, the Federation, through its memoranda, has been reiterating to the Centre as well as the State that the constitutional description of the Khasi States within Assam in the First Schedule of the Constitution of India is a serious anomaly, which needs to be rectified.
