SHILLONG, Feb 20: The NPP-led MDA Government is likely to issue a clarification to the State BJP on accepting the support of the five Congress MLAs without holding any consultations with its coalition partners.
“I spoke to the Chief Minister and he said that he will be in town by Monday and we will get the reply to the clarification that we had sought for by either Monday or Tuesday,” BJP state president Ernest Mawrie said on Sunday.
Once the reply is received, the core committee of the party will sit with party’s Meghalaya in-charge M Chuba Ao to decide the next course of action.
Refusing to comment on their future course of action, Mawrie said the entire BJP camp, be it at the centre or the state, are awaiting the reply.
He reminded that in their letter to Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma the party sought to know the terms and conditions put forth by the five MLAs before extending their support to the government.
The BJP has already made it clear that it cannot work with the Congress but ruled out withdrawing support to the MDA Government.
