BAGHMARA, Feb 21: The body of a betel nut trader from Krishnai under Goalpara district in Assam was recovered on Monday afternoon from near the village of Jadi under Nongalbibra in South Garo Hills. As per reports, on February 19, the trader, identified as Sudhanshu Das (50) of Molandubi village was allegedly kidnapped by some unknown persons. However, after the FIR was registered at Nongalbibra PS, an investigation was carried out and one of the accused pleaded guilty. As of now, the police has arrested Mantang N Marak of Rewak Songmong, Siju, SGH, while two other unidentified persons still remain absconding.
EKH man missing
SHILLONG, Feb 21: The office of the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills has informed that a person named Bob Tariang, aged 65 years, husband of Deian Sohtun and a resident of Mylliem Mawwan, Mawngap, Shillong has gone missing from his residence since January 13. He has a fair complexion and he was last seen wearing black and white shawl, black trousers, black berry monkey cap and black shoes. Excise arrangement in EKH
SHILLONG, Feb 21: The Deputy Commissioner (Excise) of East Khasi Hills, in an order, has issued an arrangement in the district which states that all IMFL ‘OFF’ retail outlets will operate from 10 am to 9 pm from Monday to Saturday weekly. “All HDL licensees shall operate from 10 am to 10 pm from Monday to Saturday, weekly. All IMFL ‘ON’ retail outlets shall operate from 1 pm to 10 pm daily. All Bonded Warehouses shall operate from 10 am to 6 pm from Monday to Saturday, weekly. All Canteens shall operate from 10:00 AM to 08:00 PMMonday to Saturday, weekly. All Outstills shall operate from 10 am to 8 pm from Monday to Saturday, weekly,” the order said.
