Noted scientist Prof Sudip Dey passes away

SHILLONG, Feb 23: Prof Sudip Dey, an alumnus of Department of Zoology, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Shillong, passed away at Guwahati, Assam, on Sunday at the age of 67. He was undergoing treatment for a complication related to kidneys.
Prof Dey is a nationally celebrated scientist and a Fellow of Royal Society of Microscopy, London, the United Kingdom.
Prof Dey published more than 100 outstanding research papers and scholastic articles in domestic and foreign journals during the tenure of his service at the Department of Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Facility (SAIF), formerly RSIC of NEHU Shillong.
A pioneer in electron microscopy, he guided research scholars from educational institutions and universities of North East.
In experimental research, he developed a new methodology in electron microscopy that was accepted by scientists across the globe.
The Royal Society of Microscopy London honoured him with the Fellow for this methodology.
