VC of USTM honoured with CMAI ICT World Education Excellence Award

Guwahati, February 25 : The 7th CMAI ICT World Education Excellence Award for “Excellent Contribution to Education Sector” was conferred today upon Prof. (Dr.) G. D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor of the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) for his immense contribution in the field of education. The Award Summit has been organised in hybrid mode by Communication Multimedia and Infrastructure (CMAI) Association of India, New Delhi, according to a Press communique issued by the USTM.

The award was presented by Dr Malcolm Johnson, Dy Secretary General, International Telecom Union, ITU Geneva (UN Body) in the presence of Prof RK Khandal, Former VC, UPTU; Dr Valtencir Mendes, UNESCO secretariat, Chancellor and Vice Chancellor of Universities and Ambassadors of various Countries. Representatives from UGC, NIELIT, NIXI, several officials from Government of India and other Education & IT Associations of India participated in this event.

The Summit provided an opportunity for information exchange, knowledge creation and sharing of best practices and experiences with digital education solutions, while identifying emerging trends and fostering partnerships, taking into account the evolving Information and Knowledge Societies. The blended approach gave stakeholders the opportunity to build networks and hear about the latest developments from the different task groups.

The Summit discussed on how digitalization has elevated blended online education; interrelation & integration of education, skills, technology; development of Education/ ICT in India, vocational courses, industry interface, opportunities for global alliances for sustainability and growth, venturing new ideas and for making appropriate strategies for ICT, education, skill development, IT, Alternate Energy etc.

CMAI is the only professional registered Integrated Association in India for ICT, Education, Cyber security, Communications, Multimedia, manufacturing industries and Infrastructure Sector having more than 48,500 stake holders as its members.
