SHILLONG, Feb 25: Surrounding the various facets of interstate border disputes and its consequences on the affected regions, a two-day national seminar was conducted by the departments of History and Political Science, Sankardev College, Shillong on February 24 and 25.
The seminar, based on the theme “Interrogating the Inter-State Border Disputes in Contemporary North-East India” was sponsored and held by the Indian Council of Social Science Research – North Eastern Regional Centre (ICSSR-NERC) with an aim to bring academicians, researchers and civil societies together to address the complexities of the subject and to suggest constructive solutions.
Lok Sabha MP, Vincent H Pala attended the programme online as the chief guest while IQAC coordinator, Manbor S Warjri chaired the inaugural programme of the seminar.
Resource persons of the event include Prof Susmita Sengupta and Prof TT Haokip, Departments of Political Science, NEHU, Dr Sanghmitra Misra, Department of History, University of Delhi, Dr PS Nianglang, Retd Chief Planning Officer & ex-officio Joint Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Planning Department, among others.
Researchers from all over North East presented their papers on the issue of border dispute in this seminar.
