Cotton varsity shines in NE-level quiz competition

SHILLONG, Feb 26: The Department of Geology, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, and Krishnanunni Memorial Charitable Trust on Saturday jointly organised a Northeast-level quiz competition titled ‘GeoQuiz2022’ during which students of Cotton University, Guwahati, St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong, and Kendriya Vidyalaya, NEHU, Shillong, bagged first, second and third positions respectively.
According to a statement, the quiz competition was organised as part of National Science Day celebrations, and in a bid to raise awareness on the significance of science and to promote geological sciences.
The quiz competition, which was conducted by Dr Shikhar Kumar and Prof Devesh Walia, was partaken by 70-plus students from Northeastern states.
“The first position was secured by Prakash Pradhan studying in class XII, Cotton University, Guwahati. The second position was secured by Brian Lim Sun studying in class XI, St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong, and the third position was secured by Nishant Sharma, class XII student Kendriya Vidyalaya, NEHU, Shillong,” the statement said.
Keneth Meriker Nongtraw, a class XI student of Army Public School, Shillong, and Md. Abul Kader Laskar, a class XI student of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Silchar, secured the fourth and fifth positions respectively.
