National conference on digitisation in businesses

SHILLONG, March 4: A national conference on the ‘Rise of Digitization in Businesses/Organizations — a Boon or a Bane’, was organised by the Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) on Thursday and Friday.
The conference saw both online and offline participation as deep insights, perspectives and reservations on the theme were put forth and discussed by the speakers and paper presenters over the two days that the event went on.
On the inaugural day, presentations were made by keynote speakers and guest speakers such as Dr S Victor Anandkumar, Professor Department of Management Studies, Pondicherri University, who spoke on the ‘Application of Artificial Intelligence in Marketing’ and provided an analysis on the risk and rewards of digitisation in business and organisations.
On the other hand, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, NEHU, Dr WandineciaTariang, gave a presentation on the digitisation and its impact on the Economy.
Gavin Shullai, Program Manager, 1917iTeams, Government of Meghalaya initiative, shared how digitisation in agriculture has created new possibilities. He went on to cite few examples such as the use of drones and cameras that can capture areas suitable for plantation, measure pH level, humidity, soil nutrients, deploy fertilisers and organic manure.
The conference is part of the university’s continued celebration and commemoration of 75th year of India’s Independence and 50th Statehood of Meghalaya.
