SHILLONG, March 6: Panic struck residents of Jingkieng Nongthymmai on Sunday morning after a packet was found near the toilet of the indoor stadium of Nongthymmai Sports and Cultural Club with a message that there was a bomb inside and it should not be touched. It turned out to be a hoax.
The packet was discovered by the caretaker who alerted the secretary of the Club. Police were immediately alerted.
The police reached the spot with a bomb squad and found an old mobile handset along with a lighter inside the packet.
Police said it was an attempt by miscreants to create panic among the citizens and added that they would inquire into the incident.
