City college holds talk on gender equality

SHILLONG, March 10: As part of the celebration of International Women’s Day 2022, the Department of Social Work (PG), St. Edmund’s College, organised a talk on the theme ‘Gender Equality Today for A Sustainable Tomorrow’ at the College Auditorium recently.
The alumni of St. Edmund’s College—Beverley D Kharsyntiew, an entrepreneur and owner of Enchante Tea Room, Sutanuka Deb, Project Manager for Meghalaya for ‘Promise of the Commons’, a Foundation of Ecological Security, and Catherine D Kyndiah, District Project Manager, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ri-Bhoi District), were invited as guest speakers.
They shared their achievements, experiences and journey, as well as their perspective on women and gender issues in the 21st century.
On the day, the college also installed two sanitary napkin vending machines for the college students.
