Manika-Sathiyan reach Singapore Smash quarters

Singapore, March 13: India’s table tennis mixed doubles team of Manika Batra and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran advanced to the quarterfinals of the WTT Grand Smash Singapore 2022 here on Sunday.
The Indian duo got the better of Brazil’s Vitor Ishiy and Bruna Takahashi 3-1 (8-11, 11-8, 11-3, 11-1) in the round of 16 clash.
The Indians will now take on top seed and Tokyo Olympics Bronze medallists Lin Yun-Ju and Cheng I-Ching of Chinese Taipei(Taiwan) in the quarterfinals.
In the men’s doubles, a team of Sathiyan and Sharath Kamal defeated Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yin-Ju and his partner Liao Cheng-Ting 7-11, 11-7, 5-11, 11-9, 11-6 in the round of 32. (UNI)
