SHILLONG, March 21: The Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) on Monday launched its sophisticated Indane Composite LPG cylinders in Shillong.
The distribution programme of the composite cylinders was held at M/s Longkmie Gas Agency, Laban, Shillong.
Indane composite cylinders, the latest LPG offering from IOCL, were launched in 2021 in major cities of India. With Shillong becoming the latest city to get these smart cylinders, the modern-day kitchens in the state capital are likely to see a positive makeover.
But what are the features that make the composite cylinders different from the traditional LPG cylinders? Let’s find out.
The composite cylinder is a three-layered construction made up of a blow-moulded inner liner, covered with composite layer of polymer-wrapped fiber glass and fitted with a HDPE outer jacket.
Some of the advantages of composite cylinder over steel cylinders are that the former is lightweight — the tare weight of composite cylinder is almost half that of a steel cylinder.
The composite cylinders also come with a translucent body that enables users to accurately check the LPG liquid level against light. This can help them plan their next refill easily.
The smart cylinders are rust-free and do not corrode. This reduces the chances of leaving stains and marks on surfaces, unlike the traditional LPG cylinders.
The new composite LPG cylinders are also aesthetically designed, which makes them visually appealing and ideal for modern-day kitchens.
Presently, the composite cylinders are available at select distributors in all major cities in 5 kg and 10 kg sizes.
While the 10 kg variant is marketed only under the domestic non-subsidized category, the 5 kg variant is available under the domestic non-subsidized category and as free trade LPG (FTL) through various points of sale options.
