SHILLONG, March 25: The state government has set the ball rolling for setting up solar parks across Meghalaya.
Informing this, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said, “Right now, we have flouted NIT and invited investor who wants to start solar park in the state. We are now in the process of screening all the documents and once that is done, we will go for the MoU with the investors.”
It may be mentioned that the state government had sought help from the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy last year for implementation of hydro, solar, wind and biomass projects in Meghalaya.
Furthermore, with the state government aiming to bank on solar energy in running all government institutions across Meghalaya, the central government already has sanctioned a grid-connected rooftop solar power project, covering 121 government buildings across the state.
