SHILLONG, March 27: Hynniewtrep National Youth Front president, Sadon K Blah has been appointed as the representative of the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council for pursuing the peace talks with the government.
In a statement here on Sunday, HNLC general secretary-cum-publicity secretary, Sainkupar Nongtraw said Blah will communicate with the state government-appointed interlocutor, Peter S Dkhar, who will be assisted by former IPS officer AK Mishra for the peace process.
Mishra is the advisor for the Northeast in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Nongtraw said the appointment of the HNYF president would help create a conducive atmosphere for ensuring lasting peace.
“We are hopeful that our representative and the interlocutors shall work hand in hand to bring forth peace and stability and also play a crucial role in their respective capacities,” he said.
The HNLC general secretary thanked the members of the Khasi Jaintia Church Leaders’ Forum for opting to become a part of the peace process.
Blah welcomed the HNLC’s offer. “I will not be able to say much at the moment. I will talk in detail about my role at an appropriate time,” he said.
