SHILLONG, March 31: BJP state president, Ernest Mawrie on Thursday asked the state government to reconsider its decision to scrap the MoU with Kolkata-based Kali Pradip Chaudhuri (KPC) Group for development of the Shillong Medical College and instead construct the college on the TB Hospital premises at Mawbah under West Shillong constituency, as decided earlier.
It is noteworthy that Mawrie is set to contest the 2023 assembly elections from the constituency.
“The government should not scrap the project since it will provide job opportunities to the people of West Shillong constituency,” he said, adding that the proposed medical college would be of immense help for students of Meghalaya who wish to pursue a career in medicine.
Mawrie pointed out that the government should go ahead with the earlier MoU signed with KPC Group since land is already available at TB Hospital and only the infrastructure needs to be developed.
