Absconding murder accused lands in SGH police net

TURA, April 2: Police in South Garo Hills have arrested a man who was on the run after allegedly killing his three-year-old daughter.
The murder accused, identified as Lindrit N Sangma, had absconded into nearby forests after allegedly perpetrating the crime in his house near Chokpot in South Garo Hills.
Sangma, as per locals, is said to be mentally unstable.
It was following the incident police began a search operation and, with 16 days of concerted efforts, succeeded in arresting the murder accused from a jungle at Angke Chiring near Betagre.
“Today at around 3:00 pm police with the help of villagers from Ampangdangre and other adjoining villages apprehended the absconding murder accused, wanted vide Silkigre PS Case No. 01(03)2022 U/S 302/201 IPC for the murder of his own minor daughter at their residence at Ampangdamgre village,” South Garo Hills Superintendent of Police, Rithuraj Ravi, said.
He also extended his gratitude to the Nokmas under Silkigre for their cooperation and support.
