AMPATI, April 2: South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner SK Marak has suggested conduct of intensive awareness and mobilisation at school and village levels next week in a bid to provide a fresh fillip to the ongoing vaccination campaign.
The DC suggested this during a meeting of the District Task Force on COVID-19, which was held recently to discuss the stratagem for the phase VI vaccination for the beneficiaries in the age groups of 12-14, 15-17 and 18-plus years.
The meeting was attended by the ADC, district health and medical officials, among others.
During the meeting, the DC asked the health teams about the logistics support required during the vaccination campaign.
He also urged all the meeting attendees to put their best foot forward and achieve cent per cent vaccination of all eligible beneficiaries against COVID-19.
Meanwhile as part of the district strategy, all PHCs and CHCs will be open for vaccination. Schools, on the other hand, have been asked to conduct parent-teacher meetings and mobilise beneficiaries and communicate with medical officers of their respective areas.
Earlier during the meeting, District Immunisation Officer, Dr. Noreen Sangma, gave the detailed coverage report of the district and stock position of COVID-19 vaccines, among others.
