NONGSTOIN, April 3: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia & Garo Peoples’ (FKJGP) and the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) West Khasi Hills District Unit, have alleged deductions and manipulations in the construction of the 7-km road from Nongstoin to Sohpian.
The two organisations made the allegations after inspecting the construction work on Saturday. The two pressure groups claimed that the road width has been cut by one foot.
A joint press statement issued by the general secretaries of the two groups said that they will not accept the deduction and manipulation taking place in the construction work and demanded that the contractor should be forced to follow guidelines as per the DPR. They also informed that Rs 8.94 crore has been sanctioned for the project.
