Centres for women in distress need to be bolstered: MSCW

SHILLONG, April 7: The Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW) has stressed on need to strengthen the functioning of two Shillong-based centres that cater to women in distress.
It may be mentioned that members of the MSCW, led by its chairperson Phidalia Toi, on Thursday visited the 181 Women Helpline centre at Lachumiere and Iohlynti One Stop Centre at Ganesh Das Hospital.
During its visit, the delegation held interaction with the staffers at the two centres.
The MSCW has also informed that it will submit its finding to the state government on the steps that need to be taken to support the two centres in view of the rising cases of violence against women.
