French tennis star Tsonga to retire after French Open
Paris, April 7: Former Australian Open runner-up Jo-Wilfried Tsonga announced he will retire after the French Open, hoping to put the final touches on an injury-plagued career in front of his home crowd. The 36-year-old Frenchman reached a career-high ranking of No. 5 in 2012, but has dropped to No. 220 following his latest lengthy injury layoff. That means he can’t enter the main draw at Roland Garros automatically through his ranking, and will have to rely on being granted a wild-card entry by organizers. Tsonga is the first member of a gifted generation of French players that emerged nearly 20 years ago – which also includes Gaël Monfils, Richard Gasquet and Gilles Simon – to call it quits. (AP)

Maradona’s daughter says his auctioned shirt ‘not the one’
BUENOS AIRES, April 7: Football legend Diego Maradona’s daughter claimed that her father’s ‘Hand of God’ shirt which is up for auction is not the one that the Argentine wore during his infamous goal against England at the 1986 World Cup. The jersey, up for auction, was reportedly worn by the iconic No 10 when he scored his infamous ‘Hand of God’ goal against England. England’s Steve Hodge swapped the jersey with the Argentinean great, after the match. The shirt is now up for auction by Hodge and is worth £4 million. “It’s not the shirt my father wore in the second half. I’m sure Hodge doesn’t have it, and I know who does. I don’t want to say who has it, because that’s crazy,” Diego Maradona’s daughter, Dalma said. (ANI)
