Bookies allege illegal conduct of Teer games

SHILLONG, April 8: A group of bookies who are involve in organising Teer in Shillong city has accused that the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Institute, Shillong, of illegally organising the lottery games.
One of the bookies, Win Kharryngki, told reporters that a reply to an RTI application by the office of Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Shillong, revealed that there are three groups, viz. Hynñiewtrep Indigenous Achery Organizer Institute, Shillong, ka Sengbhalang Ladrymbai Archery Club, Ladrymbai, and All Garo Hills Archery Association, Tura, which organise the Teer in the state.
Kharryngki also questioned the state government for closing down the betting game at Mawngap due to no obtainment of license but, at the same time, allowing the Institute to conduct the same at Polo without a valid license.
