NONGSTOIN, April 11: Hills State People Democratic Party (HSPDP) has declared Methodius Dkhar as its candidate to contest from Mawshynrut Constituency in the upcoming Assembly elections in next year.
The announcement was made by party president KP Pangniang during a gathering of hundreds of HSPDP supporters at Umdang village on Saturday.
Methodius Dkhar’s political career can be traced to 2013 when he first contested from the Mawshynrut Constituency on Congress ticket.
He was, however, defeated by his rival Witting Mawsor of the HSPDP.
Incidentally, Witting Mawsor, who is the incumbent president of HSPDP West Khasi Hills District, was also present during the meeting along with president of HSPDP Women’s Wing central body Badariti Lyngdoh Nonglait and others.
