WKH locals protest against border deal

NONGSTOIN, April 13: Around 1,000 residents from Malangkona and adjoining villages in West Khasi Hills took to the streets on Wednesday by organising a peaceful rally in protest against the MoU signed between Meghalaya and Assam.
The rally, organised by Malangkona Area Development Organization & Joints Action Committee (Tarabari sector & Gizang sector), commenced from Simanaguri field en route Sildubi village and culminated in the field.
During the rally, people shouted slogans such as ‘No Meghalaya No Rest’ and ‘MoU to be revoked’.
In a meeting during the day, pressure groups including FKJGP Langpih Unit and AHAM Aradonga unit extended their support to the people of Malangkona area in their demand for the revocation of the border MoU.
