WGH, EJH report cases of alleged coal illegalities

SHILLONG, April 18: As many as two cases of alleged coal-related illegalities have surfaced from West Garo Hills and East Jaintia Hills districts.
In a complaint lodged on April 14, it was informed that a joint inspection was conducted including Dipul R Marak, Co-chairman, MMDC, and other officials at Balal A’dugre village under Selsella C&RD Block in West Garo Hills. During the inspection, ‘rat-hole-mining’ activities carried out by one Repnon R Marak were detected.
In another complaint, the District Child Protection Officer, East Jaintia Hills, Teibormi Kyndiah, and Assistant Mines Royalty Inspector, Chirup Pamthied, stated that they along with police and other government officials conducted a joint inspection of coal stock lying at Rymbai Road, East Jaintia Hills, on April 14, and found the coal dump to be illegal.
