Awards for personalities from Meghalaya, Assam

SHILLONG, April 23: The Excellence Award on Arts, Literature and Social Service was conferred on personalities from Meghalaya and Assam for their societal services and contributions.
As part of the award ceremony, which was organised at Shillong Club on Saturday, the Riti Academy and Media Plus initiated the first-ever Rana Kharkongor Memorial Award in association with Anuprerona, a Guwahati-based socio-cultural organisation, to cherish his contribution in the field of music and film.
The Kharkongor Memorial Award was conferred on Kalpana Kalita from Tezpur on ‘Film and Theatre Writing and Acting’.
The Excellence Award on Arts and Culture was also conferred on Thomas Mylliemumlong and Wanrida Pyngrope of Shillong in recognition of their performance in the field of arts and culture.
“Thomas Mylliemumlong is the recipient of the excellence award for the relief sculpture mural at State Central Library and Wanrida Pyngrope for her commendable performances in few of the Khasi films she acted,” a statement in this regard said.
