SHILLONG, April 30: As many as 24 artisans from across the North East were part of a two-day craft bazaar, which was organised by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Shillong, as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations and North East Festival.
According to a statement, the craft bazaar, which was held at NIFT campus in Umsawli, was organised to promote handloom and handicraft sectors of North East.
The craft bazaar was attended by various dignitaries as well as faculty and staff members of NIFT Shillong.
“From across the North East, 24 artisans participated in the Craft Bazaar — handicraft and handloom products like Nagaland Jewellery, black pottery of Longpi Manipur, wood craft, handmade jewellery, embroidery & crochet, cane & bamboo, terracotta, handloom and hand printed textiles were displayed in the Craft Bazaar,” the statement said.
Craft lovers from Shillong were also part of the event.
During the programme, a unique presentation of costumes of North East was also made by the students and faculty of NIFT Shillong.
