MAWKYRWAT, May 8: The Khasi Student’s Union (KSU) Mawkyrwat Circle, on Saturday, welcomed all the sportspersons who participated in the recently concluded Meghalaya Games and brought laurels to South West Khasi Hills district.
Lauding the sportspersons, the KSU exhorted youths to keep working hard so that they eventually represent the state and country in the future in international events.
Advising them to keep drugs, alcohol and other deplorable substances at an arm’s length, the Union urged them to not desert studies while pursuing sports as a career and find a balance between the two.
The Union lamented the lack of sports facilities and infrastructure in the district. “For some disciplines, especially swimming, there is no place for the youths to train. They still perform well and win medals for the district,” the union said, adding that it is high time for the state government to turn to South West Khasi Hills and others districts to ensure that there are sufficient facilities for the youths to train.
