SHILLONG, May 13: Education Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui on Friday said the state government is planning to repair, renovate and construct over 1,000 lower primary schools during the current year.
“We have sought a comprehensive report from all the Sub-Divisional School Education Officers on school buildings that are in a dilapidated condition. Some have submitted the report. Necessary action will be taken within this year,” Rymbui said.
He said he will be able to share the details of financial implications only after receiving the reports. He also said that the plan is to take up the project in one go.
“We will do it in a phase-wise manner if the financial implication is huge. But we would not like to take up the project in a piecemeal manner,” the Minister said.
According to him, the government feels all the government schools should get the funds for the new buildings.
