SHILLONG, May 16: Suspended Congress MLA from Mawlai, PT Sawkmie said he will join the United Democratic Party (UDP) by November or December this year.
Sawkmie had, earlier, announced that he would join the UDP after the All India Congress Committee suspended him and four other MLAs for anti-party activities.
“We are meeting people to convince them of my decision to join the UDP,” Sawkmie said, adding that UDP is the only party which, if provided with an opportunity, can administer the state well.
Stating that several leaders were ready to join the UDP, Sawkmie admitting that it would be difficult for the party president (Metbah Lyngdoh) to accommodate everybody since the party has its own leaders who have worked day and night to uplift the UDP.
