SHILLONG, May 31: The state government’s plan of inaugurating the Crowborough Hotel before August 15 is unlikely to materialise.
An official involved with the project, said on Tuesday that work will be completed by August and the hotel will be inaugurated in September.
“Right now the interior work is going on and some other pending works are also on the verge of completion,” the official said.
The state government had earlier asked the contractor to inaugurate the hotel before August 15.
Taj Vivanta, which will operate the hotel, has already appointed the general manager who is doing inventory for furniture and other requirements in the hotel.
The hotel, which will employ around 150 people in various capacities, will consist of several economy rooms, standard rooms, deluxe rooms, suites, banquet hall and a coffee shop.
Meanwhile, the official said that work on the five-star Marriott Hotel at Jail Road has resumed. Last year, the Cabinet had scrapped the previous agreement signed with the HM Cements and inked a fresh 30-year pact with Maxim Infrastructure & Real Estate Pvt. Ltd. for completing the project.
