SHILLONG, May 31: An RTI activist from the state, Disparsing Rani has sought information from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee on the collapse of the central dome installed at the under-construction Assembly building at New Shillong Township.
Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, Rani said he filed the RTI application since the state government had claimed that the dome collapsed due to a fault in the design of the structure which had been vetted by IIT Roorkee.
According to him, IIT Roorkee should file a defamation case against the state government.
“I have asked IIT Roorkee to reply whether they accept the design fault claim of the state government and what would be their next course of action if they decide to contest the claim of the government,” he said.
