SHILLONG, June 5: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief and Gambegre MLA, Saleng A. Sangma has underscored people’s participation and accountability for the implementation of projects in the state.
He said the Darengre to Nengjabolchugre road was awarded during 2014-15 to Fersen Momin, the father of former Chief Minister Mukul M Sangma’s son-in-law, and it has remained incomplete regardless of several meetings he held with the engineers and SDOs.
“I had apprised the minister of such situations not only in my constituency but the whole of Garo Hills. I had also said they (contractors) should be blacklisted if they don’t follow up on their works,” the NCP legislator from Gambegre said.
Stating that all projects belong to the public who have a right to know about their status, he said: “People should know who is doing a project in any town or village and how it is being down so that if anything goes wrong, they can lodge an FIR and even file PIL.”
