Volunteers get disaster response training in EGH

TURA, June 15: As an initiative aimed to train community volunteers to respond to community’s needs in the aftermath of a disaster, a programme for the 1st phase upscaling of Aapda Mitra volunteers was organised by the District Disaster Management Authority East Garo Hills, at Williamnagar on Wednesday.
Speaking in the programme as chief guest, Deputy Commissioner of East Garo Hills Levenstone Ch Marak congratulated the selected volunteers and urged them to consider it their duty to stay alert at all times and be the first to respond in any kind of disaster.
The programme was organised in collaboration with the police, Civil Defence & Home Guards,
Fire and Emergency Services, Medical Mobile Unit, etc.
Moreover, DDMO, Williamnagar, D Chyne, said that out of 100 volunteers, 40 participated in the 1st phase while the others will partake in the days to come.
