Sensitisation on handling minor victims in POCSO

TURA, June 16: Medical practitioners and police officials in North Garo Hills were on Thursday sensitised on handling of minor victims under POCSO Act, 2012.
The day-long sensitisation programme was organised jointly by the District Legal Services Authority, Resubelpara, and the District Child Protection Officer.
During the programme, Secretary of DLSA Resubelpara expressed hope that the participants will benefit out of the sensitisation programme.
North Garo Hills Deputy Superintendant of Police Ravi Sangma and District Child Protection Officer SG Momin spoke about the role of police officials and medical practitioners in handling minor victims of sexual abuse, keeping in mind best interests of the child.
Legal Aid Counsel, Betsy Ch Momin, on the other hand, spoke on victim compensation scheme and role of the DLSA towards providing legal aid and other services under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.
