EGH man gets life imprisonment

TURA, June 16: A man from East Garo Hills was on Thursday sentenced to life imprisonment for hacking to death another over a land dispute.
According to East Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Bruno A Sangma, one Sengran D Shira had hacked to death one Balkulin Ch Momin in June 2018 at Cheran Alda village over a land dispute.
Shira was subsequently arrested after an axe, which was used to perpetrate the murder, was recovered.
The District and Sessions Judge, M Skhemian, on Thursday convicted Shira of the murder and sentenced him to rigorous life imprisonment.
