Mylliem farmers get monetary support

SHILLONG, June 17: As many as 30 producer groups from Mylliem C&RD Block were provided Rs 23.50 lakh under state government’s FOCUS programme, during a programme at MAMTEI, Upper Shillong, on Friday.
According to a statement, the cheques were distributed by Advisor to the Chief Minister Lambor Malngiang in the presence of Mylliem BDO PT Passah.
Malngiang, in his address, accentuated the need to disseminate awareness among the farming fraternity on various welfare schemes and initiatives. He said doing so will help farmers improve and upscale their activities.
Asking the farmers to not be apprehensive of availing loans, Malngiang stressed on the need to strengthen farming groups across the state.
He also informed that the state government is contemplating building a cold storage for farmers of Nongkrem.
An interactive session between farmers and officials was also held as part of the programme.
