SHILLONG, June 18: Meghalaya DGP Lajja Ram Bishnoi has asserted that the police is hell-bent on ending the drug menace in state and will keep initiating stringent measures against the contraband traffickers.
Taking to Twitter on Saturday, the DGP said that the war on drugs has been intensified in Meghalaya.
“We’ll keep catching traffickers as long as they keep pushing deadly drugs in Meghalaya,” the DGP said.
He also informed that in a “smart operation” on Saturday, Ri Bhoi Police arrested a trafficker, identified as Ricky Diengdoh, and recovered from his possession huge quantity of ganja.
The contraband item, weighing 17.6 kg, was subsequently confiscated by the district police.
It may be mentioned that the DGP, during his recent visit to Garo Hills, had interacted with students and cautioned them against drugs menace. He had also said that educational institutes can play a vital role to address the issue.
