SHILLONG, July 10: Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) MLA from North Shillong Adelbert Nongrum has asked the state government to change the timing of load-shedding while pointing out how the nightly hours give miscreants the chance to take advantage of the darkness and commit crimes.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, the KHNAM MLA suggested that the load shedding can be imposed between 4 am to 7 am and 12 noon to 1 pm. “I am very concerned since criminal elements are taking advantage of the situation in view of the present timing of load-shedding between 1 am and 5 am,” Nongrum said.
According to him, there is a direct correlation between load-shedding during wee hours and the rise in crime graphs in the state. “The timing should be changed immediately in order to bring down the incidence of crime. As an elected representative, I am raising the voice of the people,” he said.
