Synergy of WGH, EKH police leads to 3 drug peddlers’ arrest

TURA, July 10: Coordinated efforts by police of two districts on Sunday have led to the arrest of three drug traffickers and the seizure of the illegal substance from their possession.
Earlier, the Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) team from West Garo Hills Police, in a well-coordinated operation, were able to nab two of the traffickers as well as seize several items from their possession including drugs. Some of the items seized from the two arrested persons include 8.19 grams of heroin, a car, two mobile phones and Rs 14,230 in cash.
Preliminary interrogation of the two arrested persons led to the arrest of another person from East Khasi Hills who sent the drugs.
“Based on input received from WGH Police who ascertained the sender of drugs seized in Tura in connection with Tura PS case no. 150(07) 2022 U/S 21(b)/25/27/29/30 NDPS Act, the ANTF EKH along with Madanrting PS raided the residence of Bryan Nongmor, (25) of Laitkor Rngi and arrested him,” police informed.
The recovery from the arrested person included 10 empty tobacco tins, a tobacco tin containing heroin weighing 0.69 grams, a soap box containing a heat-sealed packet having heroin of 3.74 grams and one mobile phone. The total heroin seized was 4.43 grams.
Police further informed that a case under the NDPS Act has been registered at Madanrting Police Station.
