SHILLONG, July 19: SSA teachers under the banner of Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) continue their indefinite sit-in at the parking lot near Additional Secretariat.
Hundreds of SSA teachers from across the state spent a second night on the street.
MSSASA president Aristotle Rymbai said they had not got any response from the state government.
“Things remain as they were yesterday. There is no communication from the government,” he said, making it clear that the teachers were firm in their resolve not to call off their indefinite protest.
The SSA teachers are ready to agitate for months to pressurise the state government to comply with their demands, Rymbai added.
Earlier in the day, Thma u Rangli Juki (TUR) convener Angela Rangad interacted with the SSA teacher and slammed the NPP-led MDA government for not releasing the pending salary of five months.
“The Centre had launched the SSA scheme to uplift the education system in the rural areas. Sadly, the state government has failed to address the grievances of the teachers,” Rangad said.
Meghalaya Trinamool legislator George B Lyngdoh also met the SSA teachers on Tuesday.
