Meghalaya’s COVID deaths hit 1,600-mark

SHILLONG, July 23: Meghalaya on Saturday reported one COVID-19-realted fatality, pushing the state’s total number of deaths to 1,600.
In the past 24 hours, whilst 95 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported, 27 people recovered from the virus.
Meghalaya’s total active COVID-19 cases and recoveries now stand at 528 and 92,635 respectively.
The total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Meghalaya are 94,763.
As per statistics, the district-wise break-up of the active COVID-19 cases include 270 in West Garo Hills, 132 in East Khasi Hills, 55 in Ri-Bhoi, 25 in South West Garo Hills, 13 each in West Jaintia Hills and South Garo Hills, six in North Garo Hills, seven in East Garo Hills, three each in West Khasi Hills and Eastern West Khasi Hills, one in East Jaintia Hills and zero in South West Khasi Hills.
It may be mentioned that the Health department on Friday allayed the fear over the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the state, saying the situation is not alarming and all the cases are mild.
The government had also said that people have learnt to adapt to the new norms and live with the virus.
