TURA, July 24: Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET)-qualified candidates from all districts of Garo Hills held a formal meeting at the SMELC building, Dakopgre, in Tura to deliberate over their grievances.
A new body was also constituted during the gathering.
The new body was formed with the intention to inquire from the government as to why there is delay or total lack of recruitment of lower primary (LP) and upper primary (UP) schoolteachers till date. The association resolved to nudge the government and the concerned department to accelerate the recruitment process for both LP and UP schools at the earliest, most preferably before the fresh MTET examination is held.
The new body is to be led by Surjoron Hajong as president, Jempil N Marak as vice president, Mendric D Sangma as general secretary, Nagabell D Sangma as joint secretary, Grikchi WG Momin as treasurer and Likush D Marak as accountant.
