SHILLONG, July 26: Taking cognizance of reports of harassment of party leaders and workers in Tura, the state BJP has called a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the matter. The police action against party vice president Bernard Marak and his subsequent arrest from Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday is also likely to come up during the meeting.
BJP state president Ernest Mawrie on Tuesday condemned the act of ‘political vendetta’ on the party workers and asked police to stop harassment and unlawful detention of the party leaders and karyakartas.
Asking party workers to remain calm and show restraint against any police action, Mawrie said the party’s central leadership has been apprised of the recent developments in Meghalaya.
